2. LEARNING OUTCOMES

Learning Outcomes

Hydraulic Works is a basic design course. The course aims at the introduction and practical application of water supply and sewerage concepts. Upon successful completion of the course, the student has acquired the following skills:

  • Ability to determine population levels according to planning period,
  • Ability to calculate water needs per type of use,
  • Ability to calculate flows and consumption fluctuation,
  • Ability to estimate values of external aqueduct
  • Ability to implement design principles,
  • Reservoir volume calculation,
  • Ability to identify suitable materials and dimensions of water and drainage pipes,
  • Ability to implement a Hardy-Cross method for supply network design,
  • Capability of estimating stormwater and wastewater design flow rates, return period, ID-F curves, velocities and slopes.
General Competencies/Skills
