2. LEARNING OUTCOMES

Learning Outcomes

The main objective of the course is to enable students, who have already gained knowledge of related subjects (statics, strength of materials, soil mechanics and foundations, structural analysis, reinforced concrete design), to understand basic topics of earthquake engineering, engineering seismology and seismic protection of structures.

Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to:

  • Understand the basic principles of earthquake engineering and engineering seismology.
  • Learn the basic principles of modern seismic norms and aseismic design principles.
  • To analyze and deal with the basic issues and problems in structural and geotechnical seismic engineering in a simple and effective way.
General Competencies/Skills
  • Search, analyze and synthesize data and information, using the necessary technologies
  • Adaptation to new circumstances and challenges
  • Decision making
  • Work autonomously
  • Work in teams
  • Design and Manage Projects
  • Advanced, free, creative  and causative thinking
