Metabolism of heterotrophic microorganisms. Microorganisms as biogeochemical agents. Microbial growth (batch culture, continuous culture). Measurement of microbial growth. Microbiology of aquatic environment (water - waste water). Drainage problems faecal contamination of water - protecting the environment. Biological Treatment of Urban Waste. Removal of pathogenic microorganisms in wastewater treatment. Enteric viruses in wastewater. Fate of pathogenic microorganisms in soil. Applications of microorganisms.
